Understanding Irritable Bowel Syndrome
IBS affects roughly one in five people in the UK. The exact cause is not fully understood, but factors include irregular bowel contractions, gut sensitivity, hormonal fluctuations, and stress.
Treatment & Prevention
Treatment options include: Antispasmodics (Colofac, Alverine) for cramping. Laxatives for constipation (under guidance). A low FODMAP diet may be recommended.
