Overview
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity. It affects up to half of all men between the ages of 40 and 70 and can be caused by physical or psychological factors.
Understanding Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
It is often linked to reduced blood flow to the penis or issues with nerve function, hormones, or mental health. While occasional ED is common, persistent symptoms may indicate an underlying health condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or cardiovascular disease.
Treatment & Prevention
Treatment options include: PDE5 inhibitors: medications that increase blood flow to the penis, such as Viagra (sildenafil), Cialis (tadalafil), Levitra (vardenafil), and Spedra (avanafil). Alprostadil: available as a cream, injection, or suppository.
