Overview
Vaginal thrush is a common yeast infection caused by Candida. Symptoms include itching, soreness, and a white discharge. Most women experience thrush at some point in their lives.
Understanding Thrush
Thrush occurs when the natural balance of bacteria and yeast becomes disrupted, allowing Candida albicans to multiply. Common triggers include antibiotics, hormonal changes, weakened immune system, and diabetes.
Treatment & Prevention
Treatment options: Topical creams: clotrimazole cream provides relief from itching, irritation, and redness. Oral capsules: fluconazole (Diflucan) taken as a single dose.
