About Dioralyte
Dioralyte contains glucose and electrolytes to help replace fluid and salts lost during acute diarrhoea. It is not an anti-sickness medicine and does not stop the underlying cause of diarrhoea. This catalogue presentation contains 20 sachets. The Natural 20-sachet comparator is listed by Chemist4U; this does not establish the flavour held by our supplier.
Preparing the solution
Dissolve one sachet in exactly 200ml of drinking water. Do not use milk, juice or another liquid, or change the dilution. Make up the solution before use and follow the leaflet's storage and disposal instructions. Small, frequent sips may be easier if you feel sick. Seek urgent advice if you cannot keep fluids down.
Suitability
Medical supervision is needed if you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes, an intestinal obstruction, chronic diarrhoea or restrictions on sodium or potassium. Discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding with a clinician. This adult treatment-support page is not a dosing guide for babies or children.
When to get help
Very little urine, fainting, severe abdominal pain, blood in stools or worsening illness requires urgent assessment. Consult a clinician if diarrhoea persists beyond 24 to 48 hours. Severe dehydration may need hospital treatment rather than further sachets. Call 999 for a life-threatening emergency or NHS 111 for urgent advice.
