Overview
Non-specific urethritis is inflammation of the urethra not caused by gonorrhoea. It can cause pain when urinating and discharge from the penis. It is usually caused by a bacterial infection.
Understanding Non-specific Urethritis (NSU)
The inflammation can cause pain, discharge, and discomfort during urination or sexual activity. Common causes include chlamydia, mycoplasma genitalium, irritation from friction, chemicals, or medical instruments.
Treatment & Prevention
Early diagnosis and complete treatment are essential. Recommended: Doxycycline (100mg) taken twice daily for 7 days, first-line treatment.
