Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder, usually caused by a bacterial infection. It is much more common in women and causes symptoms including pain when urinating, frequent urination, and lower abdominal discomfort.

Treatment & Prevention
A short course of antibiotics is the standard treatment. Options include nitrofurantoin and trimethoprim.
