Fungal nail infections cause the nail to become discoloured, thickened, and distorted. They are common and usually affect toenails. Treatment can take several months as the nail needs time to grow out.
Understanding Fungal Nail Infections
Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments. Common causes include prolonged damp exposure, sharing nail tools, existing fungal infections, tight footwear, and weakened immune system. If untreated, infections can spread.
Treatment & Prevention
Treatment options include: Topical antifungal lacquers (amorolfine). Oral antifungals for severe infections. Treatment takes months as the nail needs to grow out.
