What is Foundayo?
Foundayo is a prescription-only, once-daily tablet containing orforglipron. The MHRA authorised it in the UK on 10 August 2026 for weight management in eligible adults, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
It may be considered for adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or a BMI from 27 kg/m² to below 30 kg/m² with at least one weight-related health condition. A prescriber must assess whether it is appropriate for you; completing a consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
How does Foundayo work?
Orforglipron is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics the action of a hormone released after eating and acts on areas involved in appetite regulation. This can help you feel fuller for longer, reduce hunger and decrease food cravings. It is a small-molecule tablet rather than an injectable medicine.
How do I take Foundayo?
Take Foundayo exactly as your prescriber directs. It is taken once daily and can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not break, crush or chew it, and do not take more than one tablet in a day.
Treatment starts at 0.8 mg once daily for 30 days. The usual next doses are 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg. You should remain at each dose for at least 30 days before any increase, and only increase when your prescriber tells you to. The maximum daily dose is 17.2 mg.
If you forget a dose, take it when you remember, but never take more than one dose in a day or take a double dose. If you take more than prescribed, contact a doctor promptly.
What are the common side effects?
Very common side effects include:
- feeling sick (nausea)
- constipation
- diarrhoea
- being sick (vomiting)
Indigestion and abdominal pain can also occur. Nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting are often most noticeable when starting or increasing the dose and may lessen over time. Vomiting or diarrhoea can cause dehydration, so seek advice if symptoms are persistent or you cannot keep fluids down.
When should I get urgent help?
Seek urgent medical help for severe, persistent pain in the stomach and back, which can be a sign of acute pancreatitis. Severe tummy pain with swelling, vomiting or being unable to pass wind or open your bowels can be a sign of bowel obstruction and also needs urgent assessment. Severe constipation should not be ignored.
Tell a healthcare professional that you take Foundayo before surgery or a procedure requiring anaesthesia or deep sedation, because delayed stomach emptying can increase the risk of food or liquid entering the lungs.
Who needs extra assessment?
Your consultation must include all current medicines and medical conditions. In particular, tell the prescriber if you have had pancreatitis, severe digestive problems, gallstones, diabetic eye disease, kidney problems, or if you use insulin or a sulfonylurea, because diabetes treatment may need adjustment to reduce the risk of low blood sugar.
Foundayo must not be used during pregnancy. Tell the prescriber if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding. Orforglipron can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills work during dose escalation; the prescriber will explain whether you need a non-oral method or an additional barrier method.
How should I store Foundayo?
Keep the tablets in their original package to protect them from light, out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use them after the expiry date. Return unwanted or expired medicine to a pharmacy rather than putting it in household waste or wastewater.
